Taro XP Series
Medium Speed Trunk Piston Engine Oils
Taro® XP Series lubricants are a range of high-performance, diesel engine oils for medium-speed trunk piston diesel engines burning residual, heavy or distillate fuels in marine and power generation applications, and are specially developed for these engines burning fuels with a maximum sulphur level of 4.5%.
Engine Cleanliness
- Taro XP uses unique detergent and dispersant additives to help keep engines clean. These additives help to effectively handle fuel contaminants, contributing to reduced lube oil filter clogging and lower deposit formation on engine components. This results in a reduction of both “hot deposits” (piston lands and grooves, piston under-crown) and “cold deposits” (crankcase, cambox, rocker area, fuel pumps).
Wear Protection
- Excellent Base Number (BN) retention is engineered to help provide protection against corrosive wear over long periods of operation. Its balanced additive package helps to effectively protect engine components from corrosion when the engine is idle. Additionally, the high-performance anti-wear additives in the formulation help deliver excellent protection against wear in critical engine components including cams, camshafts and bearings.
Efficient Operation
- Taro XP Series lubricants are designed to contribute to minimum maintenance and downtime, optimum engine life and economical operating costs. The additive system is engineered to help protect the oil against high thermal stresses, oil oxidation and effective water and contamination handling, while promoting extended lubricant life.
The Taro XP Series is recommended for all types of trunk piston diesel engines in marine and power generation applications, burning residual fuels with a maximum sulphur level of 4.5%. It is recommended for use in main propulsion and auxiliary engines on deep-sea vessels, coastal vessels and in stationary power plants. Taro XP series lubricants are suitable for use in engine reduction gears and other applications on board where oils with similar EP properties are required.
