Taro Ultra 70
Slow-speed engine oils

All Taro Ultra 70 is recommended by Chevron for lubricating the cylinders of large two-stroke / slow-speed crosshead diesel engines running on low Sulphur fuels but corrosive operating conditions or older mild corrosive engines equipped with exhaust abatement technologies using heavy fuel oil. Taro® Ultra 70 should be used in accordance with OEM guidelines and recommendations.
Helps Engine Protection
Effective acid neutralization helps protect against excessive cylinder liner and piston ring wear which may result from the use of high sulphur heavy fuel oils and can shorten cylinder liner and piston ring life.
Engine Cleanliness
Helps to prevent ring sticking and minimize deposit formation on the pistons and throughout the combustion chamber exhaust areas.
Storage Stability
Stable at ambient temperature and during long-term storage.
Compatibility
Compatible with diesel cylinder lubricants that are generally known to the international marine trade.
Operating costs
If oil feed rate is above the minimum recommended by the OEM, there is potential to move to a higher base number formulation to provide the same level of alkalinity and corrosion protection but at lower feed rates, which can help reduce operating costs.
Taro Ultra 70 is developed by Chevron and tested in the field to show it meets the requirements of the following OEMs for use in their products:
- MAN Energy Solutions
- Winterthur Gas & Diesel (formerly Wärtsilä Switzerland)
