Exploring the Benefits of HDAX 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil Exploring the Benefits of HDAX 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil

When it comes to stationary gas engines maintenance, selecting the right engine oil is key for ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Among the many options available, HDAX 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil stands out as a premium choice. This long-drain, heavy-duty, low ash crankcase oil is specifically designed to lubricate a wide range of four-stroke natural gas and dual-fuel engines where low ash oils are recommended. This blog will delineate the major advantages of using HDAX 7200 and further substantiate the same with a case study with proven results.

Why HDAX 7200

The benefits of using this lubricant oil that is formulated with hydrocracked base oils and additive technology are as follows: -

Exceptional Engine PerformanceMost gas engines are plagued by deposits and contamination. HDAX 7200 has an optimized detergent-dispersant additive package that minimizes the formation of engine deposits.

Valve Recession ProtectionAs a gas engine owner, if spark plug glitches are a concern, then HDAX 7200 is a good choice since the level and type of ash-producing additives in the oil provides minimum valve recession with low levels of combustion chamber deposits to minimize the potential for pre-ignition and spark plug fouling.

Low WearHDAX 7200 helps handle extreme temperature variations and wear and tear by offering outstanding protection against piston, ring and liner scuffing, scoring and wear.

Long Oil LifeScheduled maintenance can help avert unexpected downtimes. HDAX 7200’s improved oxidation and nitration resistance provides maximum flexibility in maintenance scheduling.

Clean PistonsAnother advantage of using HDAX 7200 is that it keeps pistons clean, which helps prevent ring sticking and maintains clean, varnish-free piston skirts.

The proof is in the results! The client, a global leader in full-service natural gas compression and a foremost provider of services and equipment for oil & gas production, processing, treating, transportation and storage, has been operating gas engines and piston-type compressors in oilfield operations where equipment is exposed to severe environmental conditions of the Middle East; and high load operations since 2011. They were in want of a premium quality lubricant that could dissipate heat, especially during summer, where ambient temperature can reach up to 55˚c.

HDAX® 7200 LA SAE 40 was recommended. The result was highly satisfactory since the robust formulation of HDAX® 7200 LA SAE 40 achieved 4,000 hours (about 5 and a half months) without any unscheduled downtime. The oil health from LubeWatch programs also showed that oil was well within the OEM limits despite operating at severe conditions. To conclude, the close collaboration between Chevron and our client successfully demonstrated lowering the total cost of ownership when engines’ durability achieved over 25,000 hours (about 3 years) of operation without downtime and saving in engine components.
